Forget Reinvention. You Want Reclamation!
How many books have you bought?
Seriously. How many? The ones on confidence. Finding your purpose. All those books that promised to crack the code on why you feel stuck, keep hitting similar walls, why success never quite feels like enough.
How many webinars, workshops, retreats, coaching programs? How many journals have you filled digging deeper and deeper into what’s wrong with you?
How many times have you ended up right back where you started?
You’re not alone. I’ve written a journal most of my life. When I read them again, I found my own personal Groundhog Day.
The Reinvention Treadmill
The personal development world runs on one premise: something is wrong with you. Find it. Fix it. Become a new version of yourself. Repeat.
It’s a $53 billion industry. 80% of buyers are repeat customers. They keep coming back. Not because the programs worked.
Because the model requires you to never feel finished.
Think about that. The business model depends on you finding something new to fix. Another flaw. Another limiting belief. Another layer of damage to excavate. There’s always another version of you to become, another program to buy, another gooroo to follow.
Women are the primary target. Women consume the majority of self-help content, over 80%. Women fill coaching programs, retreats, workshops. Not because women are more broken — because women have been taught since childhood that we’re not enough as we are.
I have a hunch the folks who imprinted that belief also profited from it.
Built on Broken Science
Here’s what nobody tells you about the reinvention treadmill: it’s built on thinking that’s over a hundred years out of date.
Freud framed the unconscious mind as something dark and dangerous — a basement full of repressed impulses that needed to be controlled. Our own minds as the enemy. His solution?
You need an expert to help you wrestle your mind into submission.
That framework became the bedrock of modern psychology. It bled into every coaching model, every self-help program, every personal development course that followed. Dig deeper. Find your blocks. Uncover your limiting beliefs.
That’s Freud talking. A hundred-year-old idea that our minds are working against us.
Science has moved on. Dramatically.
What’s Actually True
Your unconscious mind isn’t your enemy. It’s the most powerful part of you.
It’s highly trainable. It does what it’s directed to do. It doesn’t resist. It doesn’t sabotage. Whatever you impress on it deeply enough, it imprints as truth. Then shapes your entire life around that truth.
Researchers at Stanford’s Mind and Body Lab have shown that our beliefs physically change our bodies — stress responses, immune function, pain perception, even hormone levels. What you believe isn’t just in your head. It’s running your biology. A study from the Keck School of Medicine at USC, published in the Journal of Integrative and Complementary Medicine, found that mind-body practices can be nearly as effective as commonly prescribed drugs at reducing blood glucose in people with type 2 diabetes.
Here’s the reality. Your mind is not a problem to be managed. It’s a force to be directed.
Those Patterns Were Never Yours
This is the part that changes everything, if you let it.
The patterns you’ve been trying to fix? They’re not proof you’re broken. They’re not even yours.
They were imprinted. By culture. By people around you. By a world with its own agenda for who and what you should be. Layer after layer of programming that told you to sit down, shut up, and hand your power to someone who “knows better.”
You were born with limitless power. Right inside your mind. Every single one of us have it.
We just weren’t taught about it. We were taught to give it away.
Then sold programs to go find it again.
Your Reclamation
Reinvention says: Become someone new.
Reclamation says: You are already unstoppable.
Every little girl starts fierce. Loud. Certain. Watch any three-year-old and you’ll see someone who knows exactly what she wants and has zero problem demanding it.
Then the world gets to work. Be nice. Be quiet. Don’t be bossy. Don’t be too much.
I got a world-class version of that filing. I was tortured as a child. The message wasn’t subtle: be perfect or face near death. My little girl mind learned that survival meant shrinking. So I shrank, big time. Then I built a breakout career on top of the shrinking — drove harder, performed better, demanded more of myself — all while the foundation underneath was their programming, not mine.
The power didn’t go away. Not for me. Not for you. It was buried. By programming that serves everyone but you.
Reclamation isn’t building something new. It’s uncovering what’s already there.
I’m Living Proof
After the memories of childhood horrors surfaced, I went down. Hard. I went on a journey of discovery. I learned the methods that harness the real power of our minds — from modern science to ancient wisdom. The truth of how our minds actually work. How to direct them. How to reclaim their power.
I rebuilt my life with those methods. Then chronic illness dropped me to my knees.
This time, I didn’t get back up. I was too weak.
What followed was eight years of declining health, vitality, and life. I couldn’t ride my horses, could barely get around my house, lived with chronic pain so bad I just laid in bed and cried. Brain fog became no brain. I lost count of the times I decided I was just dying. Wondered if I should give up.
I became a dark thinker without realizing it. Doom and gloom took over. Worst-case expectations dominated everything. I sank deeper and deeper.
Then a dear friend kicked me in the ass.
He’s a mind master like me. He called me on it and wouldn’t let me run. I fought him at first. He got through anyway. I started really paying attention to my thoughts. Heard what I already knew, but hadn’t had the will to fight. Pure doom and gloom.
Victimhood has many faces.
One night I caught myself planning my week around when I’d be so sick I couldn’t move. Hit me right between the eyes.
I was planning my life around my sickness.
Here I am, the woman who guides this work, doing the very thing I help clients stop doing. Pouring all my focus into what I didn’t want, giving it so much power it was fueling my sickness. Making it worse.
So I used my own methods. I turned the full force of those practices on my own mind. Shifted the doom voices to focus on what was right and powerful. Built a mental space of perfect health and moved into it. Permanently.
Then I added the work I hold most sacred — an ancient meditation that uses the power of our own cells to heal our bodies.
That was a Tuesday.
Within a week I was upright. Within two I was moving around the house. Within three I was out walking, finally petting my horses again. Next thing I knew I was thinking about concepts I hadn’t been able to process for years. Writing. Playing my piano again.
After nearly a decade, my mind pulled my body out of its darkness and transformed everything. I went from dying to living in technicolor. Still am. Growing brighter every single day.
Yes, I’m taking supplements to heal my body’s damage. My mind is what changed the course so I could even take them. Before I did my work? Every single thing I put into my body caused a bad reaction. My body literally thought everything was a threat. Everything.
I am healing as fast as can be. All because I stopped focusing on what was wrong with me and started reclaiming what was powerful and oh so right in me.
We All Have This Power
We just haven’t been taught about it. Instead, we’ve been taught to be less. To hand our power to external forces and spend our lives earning our way to being… OK.
So here’s the real question.
Are you going to keep buying books focused on what’s wrong with you?
Or are you ready to reclaim what was always yours?
